Finally!!

After years of begging, nagging and trial and error, I've found the dog I've been waiting for. We picked him up yesterday and tonight will be his second in the house-a record for us! We're debating what to call him. His given name is Hunter, but we've tossed around a few others, deciding if we want to teach him a new name.

So far, so good.

Skater Boys

Mike has been so excited for Jackson to learn to skateboard since he enjoyed it so much growing up. Jackson has been proud to learn, but is very cautious and doesn't want to chance getting hurt, which tends to disrupt the practice. Here are some pics of both boys having fun!

NC State Fair

It had been years since I had been to the fair so I decided to make a trip this year! Everything was just as I remembered, although I couldn't find my maple cotton candy this time. The boys had a blast with friends Lilly and Lila Day. They saw enough to make it a homeschool field trip and had enough fun to not realize they were learning!! The Oscar Meyer-mobile was the first "exhibit" followed by a trip through see NC agriculture up close. Jackson had fun pretending to be a chicken.

My Crazy Animals Visited the Zoo

We had a blast today at the zoo! The only disappointment was that we never found the rhinos. Jackson was talking about them from the beginning and I guess they were napping when we visited....at least that's what satisfied Jackson. And after hours of animal watching, mine are pooped and sleeping!

Soccer

Jackson loves soccer this year. Today wasn't his best game by far, but at least I caught some on video. At lunch today he even asked to go back to the field to try to score some goals (he didn't score any today). He's on a great team with good friends.

Knights in Shining Armour

I truly can't believe Jackson turned 5 on Saturday. I don't feel old enough or responsible enough to have a 5 year old!

He chose to have a Knight party, so we tried to oblige. The kids all had fun at least!

Carson was supposed to dress as the dragon of the castle, but in all the chaos of the day, I totally forgot to change his clothes. He would have been cute. This was the night before the party...

I see a Grammy award in the future...

Jackson loves to make up songs. I caught these two on tape. In the first one, he is talking about Stacy Clearman, a local worship pastor and kid's song writer and performer that we listen to. (http://www.stacyclearman.org/)

The next is just an original after being told about having to do the boring things at home in addition to the fun things. I don't know where he gets it????

Yes, we really do school....

Here is some proof from today when both boys actually stayed at their desk and "worked."

Here is a picture Jackson drew today of the Garden of Eden. According to him, the wind is blowing Adam's hair (purple) and the leaves off the trees (green in the sky). The snake is next to Eve. We also studied "M" today and made a mask...that was his favorite part of the day.

Eat More Chicken

Today was free food day at Chick Fil'A. We love free food and we love Chick Fil'A!!! Anyone wearing a football team's logo was eligible so we dressed up and headed out. The fam from Alabama was represented well in the Auburn gear they sent us. Go Tigers!!

Playing at the Mall

Mike's B'day gift from his parents was an awesome video camera. It's small enough to carry everywhere, so we are. Here's a clip from the boys playing at the mall last night.

GOAL!

Jackson is on his first soccer team and is loving it. (Although I don't know who gets more excited over practices, Mike or Jackson). In the first scrimmage game, he scored the very first goal! We were so proud. I don't think he knew what the big deal was.

I am hoping all these Saturday mornings pay off with a scholarship at 18!!

First Week of Kindergarten

We have started homeschool! I never thought I would be teaching my own child at home, but for whatever reason, we started our adventure this week. He has done great!

Monday started with a celebratory breakfast of his choosing-chocolate chip pancakes.

We continued our first day by beginning an "All About Me" lapbook. For fun, I let him stay in his pj's for school, which was a hit! He enjoyed filling in information about is likes, his family and friends. He asked if he could make one for all of his friends. And, the day ended with my sweet boy saying, "Thank you Mommy for teaching me at homeshool." No prompting, he came up with that one on his own.

Here is a short video of our first day of SEEK, one of our homeschool co-ops. Jackson had a blast. He is taking two classes, one about Dr. Suess and the other about America.

Welcome to the 21st century Agar Family!

Ok, so it's official. We have a blog...we have arrived. (Although I still refuse to make my cell phone my primary mode of communication...I haven't come THAT far).

I have come to realize that the scrapbooks will never be completed and those journals I bought will never be filled with family memories as intended, but with the time I spend on the computer, maybe, just maybe, I can keep up a blog. I desperately want to remember every detail of our boy's lives and pass on these collections of memories at some point. Hopefully with the help of technology, that will happen. And along the way, I can share our daily discoveries with anyone interested in coming along.
